Fetal Cardiovascular Center

The Eastern Virginia Medical School Fetal Cardiovascular Center provides advanced, coordinated, state-of-the-art clinical care for families with prenatal congenital heart disease, through multidisciplinary collaboration of various specialties that include maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology, pediatric cardiology and pediatric cardiovascular surgery.

Why you might need the EVMS Fetal Cardiovascular Center

According to the American Heart Association, a staggering 36,000 babies are born with a heart defect each year in the United States. These congenital heart defects are structural problems within the heart that result when a mishap occurs during heart development soon after conception and often before the mother is aware she is pregnant.

The EVMS Fetal Cardiovascular Center was developed to help families facing this struggle identify what the problem is as soon as possible, provide supportive counseling and plan management strategies.

Each family is unique and the Fetal Cardiovascular Center team understands that. The team works together to develop the most comprehensive treatment plan to care for families and their unborn children.
